Three and four fouls

For referees and hosts · 1 min readWork in progress

Why this matters. A build-up of penalties changes a player's part in the game, so the order must be known in advance.

What to do. In the common FIIM edition, three fouls take away the nearest speech but keep the right to nominate; the fourth leads to removal without a last word. Before you apply this in practice, check the 2026 edition and its exceptions.

How it sounds. "Player number eight has a third foul. The nearest minute passes under the rulebook without the right to speak; the right to nominate stays, if the current edition provides for it."

Practice. Model the build-up of fouls in different phases.

Typical mistakes. Carrying an old rule over to a new edition without checking.
