Child safeguarding

How Fortuna Elite Club keeps children and teenagers safe at its evenings: rules for adults, parental consent and where to raise a concern.

We want everyone at our evenings to be safe, and children most of all.

Who comes

Our evenings are for adults and for teenagers from the age of 12. A teenager comes with the consent of a parent or guardian. The parent or guardian is responsible for their child at the evening and stays on site.

What we do

  • We do not organise activities for children without their parents.
  • No adult on our team is alone with a child who is not their own.
  • We take and publish photos and video of children only with a parent's consent. See the photo and video policy.
  • The host stops the game if the conversation turns hurtful or pressures a player.
  • If you are worried about a child's safety at one of our evenings, tell an organiser at once or write to info@fortunacommunity.ie.

What happens if there is a concern

We take any concern about a child's safety seriously. We will pass it to the relevant authorities, as the Children First Act 2015 requires, and we will not investigate it ourselves.

Our full statement

We are preparing a full Child Safeguarding Statement under the Children First Act 2015, with a risk assessment and a named contact person. We will publish it here when it is finished and checked.

The community the club belongs to publishes its policy on the Fortuna Community website.
