How to build your one-minute speech

Level 1. Beginner · 1 min readWork in progress

Why this matters. A speech should help the team make a decision, not fill the time.

What to do. The first 10 seconds are your main point. The next 20 are two observations. Then comes a question or a comparison of versions. The last 10 are a concrete proposal for the vote or for a check. You do not have to talk every second.

How it sounds. "I am number four. Number two changes position without explanation, and number seven keeps asking questions consistently. For now my priority for the vote is number two. Number two, why did you drop the version against number five?"

Practice. Give a 60-second speech against a timer and cut the empty phrases out of it.

Typical mistakes. Retelling all the speeches, or claiming "he is black because I feel so".
